Daniel Logan is an FBI agent. He is also a man in love with Tilda. He is utterly bewitched by her. She takes risk when he least expects it. She is sophisticated and lovely, though it is difficult to get past her hidden defenses. But Daniel has never given up. It is why he is good at his job. When Daniel and Tilda spontaneously decide to get married, he hopes that they can get to know each other on a deeper level. Unfortunately, busy work schedules and an unexpected appearance from someone in Tilda's past puts their new union on shaky ground.
THE LIST is a sophisticated, sumptuous romance. Anne Calhoun has a way with words. This book resonates with tenderness and steam, a combination that not all writers can pull off. Tilda is a very intriguing character. She truly enjoys making connections for people, helping them find the person they are meant to be with. However, when it comes to showing Daniel her own secrets, Tilda is more withdrawn and vulnerable. She does not want to lose Daniel but she also does not truly know how to keep him. While she is utterly confident in her business dealings, and in fact is pursuing a very important business deal throughout the course of the book, when it comes to Daniel, she is utterly naked in her worry and emotions.
Daniel is head-over-heels for Tilda, to put it mildly. The wonderful twist at the end of the book will show readers just how gaga he is for this woman. But he also knows he has to handle her with care sometimes. Daniel proves to be just as complex and fascinating as Tilda. It is no wonder these two work together so well. Of course, it is a lot of work. This is not an easy relationship or a light romance by any means; in fact, the tone of this story is quite heavy. Be prepared for fraught emotions and utterly sexy love scenes.
THE LIST proves Anne Calhoun can write any kind of love story. I had to know if Tilda and Daniel could make it work. I am so glad I settled into this love story. It will play with your emotions in the best way.
