Clare's THE TAMING OF THE BILLIONAIRE was a quick read and oh so steamy with burn up the sheet moments. Edie and Magnus have nothing in common but do have immediate chemistry that they both fight especially given the circumstances of how and where they meet. Her sister, Bianca, and his brother, Levi, are both pieces of work and in cahoots to get themselves together. To do that they need Edie out of the way and Magnus is recruited to help on that front and their selfishness is front and center throughout since everything always revolves around one or the other of them. When the scheme backfires due to the true feelings Edie and Magnus have for one another things get complicated fast since lies and deceit are involved. There are family, friends, lots and lots of cats - Edie's not called the Cat Lady for nothing! - injuries, sadness, fear, dislike, tears, sorrow, lots and lots of money and gaming and the creation of games, homes and businesses, laughter, the truths revealed, romance and love along with hurt feelings, groveling, sorrow and anger. Edie and Magnus seem to do okay when they're alone but things get complicated when others are around. The storyline surrounding the rescue cats was heartwarming as well as how well they got each other without knowing each other for very long. There was some closure with a happily ever after in the offing but we know we'll back with other BILLIONAIRE AND BRIDESMAID stories especially when the book ends with Gretchen telling Edie, "Girl, have I got stories to tell you..."
This is the second book in the BILLIONAIRES AND BRIDESMAIDS SERIES and once again I have not read the first book in the series, THE BILLIONAIRE AND THE VIRGIN, but I do plan to rectify that. I have read most books in the BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB SERIES and I look forward to reading book four, ONCE UPON A BILLIONAIRE, which I somehow missed along the way. I look forward to reading other books Clare's written as well as those by Jill Myles.
