Hired on as foreman of the Fiddle Creek Ranch in Burnt Boot, Texas, Sawyer O'Donnell is shocked to discover that he will be sharing the bunkhouse with his boss Gladys' niece. He can tell right away that the red headed, green-eyed spitfire spells trouble with a capital T. But the bunkhouse is plenty big enough for the two of them. It doesn't take long to discover that there is a bigger problem and the two will have to watch each other's backs if they are to survive intact. The Fiddle Creek Ranch is situated between two huge spreads, owned by two families, the Gallaghers and the Brennans, who are feuding with each other, and Gladys' ranch is their bone of contention. After all, both families need the ranch's water rights. But Gladys is equally determined that neither family will ever own her home.

Jill Cleary has not been back to the Fiddle Creek Ranch since she was small and is thrilled to see her Aunt Gladys and Aunt Polly again. Her Aunt Gladys is in her eighties and knowing that she will one day inherit the ranch, Jill is trying to learn all she can while her aunt is alive by working the ranch. She just had not known she would be sharing the bunkhouse with the handsome, at times infuriating, foreman or the sparks that fly when he is around. She also had not counted on the feud or the fact that men on both sides are trying to court her for the land she will one day inherit. Trying to give the men a clear field, the women of both families are trying to seduce Sawyer and definitely being brazen about it, to Jill's thinking. Only by pretending a courtship will they be able to fend off the feuding families.

When Aunt Polly breaks her leg, needing Aunt Gladys to care for her, it is up to Sawyer and Jill to handle the store and the bar as well as the ranch. Being in each other's company almost constantly only makes the sparks fly higher. As intimacy ensues, Jill finds herself falling in love with Sawyer, but does he feel the same way? Will their pretend courtship turn into a happy-ever-after, or will the feuding families get their way?

Once more, author Carolyn Brown has penned a deliciously sexy contemporary romance with her latest, THE TROUBLE WITH TEXAS COWBOYS, the second novel in her BURNT BOOT, TEXAS series. Readers are drawn into this story from the first page as Sawyer and Jill face off and the story only takes off from there, becoming even more captivating as their time together and their attempts to evade the feuding families unfolds. With a couple of matchmaking aunts thrown into the works, readers will be unable to put this book down until they reach the very satisfying ending.

Feuding, mayhem and hilarity ensues with nothing off-bounds such as pigs being stolen and a chicken house set aflame while both sides try to seduce their way into the water rights on the ranch that sits between them. Some of their antics will leave you laughing out loud. I am a longtime fan of Ms. Brown's work. For me, all it takes is seeing Ms. Brown's name on a book to make it a must read. Sweet romance, sassy characters with loads of spunk, engaging banter as well as plenty of heat and humor takes her books over the top. I have never been disappointed by one of her books and this one is no exception. Pick up a copy and check it out for yourself!
