Because of his work with the Make-A-Wish foundation, Michael Blake, the owner and operator of the Eagle’s Nest Ski Resort in Park City, has agreed to be one of the most eligible bachelors in their celebrity bachelor auction. The successful bidder will get to spend a week with him. The committee had convinced him to participate during a weak moment, and he has been dreading the event ever since, but he has already given his word. However, the last person he expects to see at the auction is his ex-wife, the woman he had been married to for eight years before she suddenly asked him to leave. He had loved her and it was only in the past few months that he has been coming to grips with their breakup.
During the time of their divorce, Kat had been trying to get Michael to complete the repairs around the house. She could not even sell the house until they were done, but he had not been up to it at the time. So she is determined to win him at the auction under the pretext of making the repairs, but what she really wants is for him to get her pregnant. Then she can sell the house and move away, getting out of Michael’s life once and for all. Michael hates stepping foot into the house they once shared, but a deal is a deal. However, as they settle into a daily routine, their feelings for each other re-surface. But when he discovers her secret plan, will it doom their relationship, or act as a catalyst to reunite them?
THE AUCTION, the latest story by talented author Lyn Austin, is a witty, passionate contemporary romance that kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. I could not help rooting for this well-matched couple. Kat and Michael are both still in love with each other and have been struggling to get on with their lives. Neither one has been able to find anyone they want to be with other than each other. So when Kat yearns for a baby, the only man she can contemplate having one with is Michael. Honest emotions, second chances, interesting characters, a picturesque setting, poignant plot, humor, passion and love all combine for a fast-paced, heartwarming story that I hated to see end. This is the first story I have read by Ms. Austin, but I look forward to reading more. Do yourself a favor and check out THE AUCTION. I highly recommend it!
