Reyn Sawyer, renowned hair stylist of the neighborhood, finds herself wrist-deep in hot, sudsy water for something she didn't do.  Okay, she did do something but definitely not what you think.  Oh, she might be a master at covering certain things like gray hair, and she'
s most certainly the Queen of Tease when it comes to fluffing, but that's the extent of her cover-ups.  No, she could never commit murder and now she must prove her innocence.

The last thing Reyn could have ever imagined her handy dandy hair pick to be was a murder weapon, but that's exactly what it had been used for. Now here she is identifying the body of her dear friend, Ricardo, beauty stylist to the stars, who it seems had grown quite attached to the borrowed pick.

She should have known something was amiss when he phoned her last night after having borrowed her prized possession.  Ricardo had said he needed her pick to use on one of his customers the next day.  Why couldn't he have used his own?  When he called her, he sounded as if he had been drinking so she paid him little attention and went back to sleep.

And just who does this guy, Jackson Scythe, think he is?  Just because he's the main detective on the case doesn't give him the right to look suspiciously at her.  But he does have such sexy eyes and a body that should most definitely be locked away so as not to cause distraction. And that hair-oh, how she'd like to run her fingers through that glorious head of hair.

Reyn will get Detective Scythe to notice her in a positive way even if she has to find the murderer by herself.  Of course, this is to prove her innocence and get rid of that guilty look he keeps using on her.  So, armed with her best friend, Trudy Trujillo, they begin searching, spying, and breaking and entering in order to clear Reyn's name.  What fun you'll have reading about their adventures.  The unique ways in which they interrogate their list of suspects will leave you laughing until your sides ache.

'Who did it,' you ask?  That's for me to know and you to find out-and I guarantee you'll have the time of your life.

THE BRUSH-OFF, by Laura Bradley is hilarious.  This is the first novel in the HAIR-RAISING MYSTERY series and I can't wait until her second, SPRAYED STIFF is available. Her style makes for a read that you can't put down.  It was almost as if the movie reel was continually turning inside my mind as I watched the zaniness of her characters come to life.  Never again will I look at a hair pick in the same way. ;-)
