The main character of the four women is Lucy, who is the long-suffering girlfriend of a philandering idiot, for lack of a better word. Lucy allows this man to treat her as if she is lucky that he wants to be with her. He leaves and she takes him back time after time. Can she learn to be strong enough to resist him and love herself? There is also another blip on her radar screen-her boss is flirting with her, something she hardly expects but wants to pursue. He might actually be the better man for her if she will only take a chance.
Autumn is a sweet girl who tries to help everyone at her own expense, especially when he ne’er-do-well brother ends up living with her for awhile.
Nadia is a woman deeply in love with her husband but he has a gambling problem that puts them in high debt. She loves him but can she afford to continue to support him when he isn’t changing? She must also protect their son from the danger his life can lead to.
Chantal is a beautiful woman who loves her husband but can’t seem to get him to want to have sex with her. She tries to get sexual fulfillment other places but it leaves her feeling cold on the inside. Can they help each other navigate through life’s minefields led by the smell and love of chocolate and a love for each other?
Ms. Mathews has another hit book on her hands. I love this book or maybe just the mention of chocolate hooked me. I am a confirmed chocoholic. I would love to have such a place to meet with my close friends and pour out all my troubles while soothing myself with chocolate. I enjoy how the characters are from different backgrounds, financial brackets, and schools of thought, but unite to keep each other strong and uplifted. This is a new book to hold up sisterhood. CHOCOLATE LOVER’S CLUB is an awesome read.
