Lady Francesca Haughston feels guilty after breaking off her engagement with Sinclair, the Duke of Rochford, fifteen years earlier. A huge misunderstanding brought on by a third party led her to believe that Sinclair was cheating on her. However, once new evidence comes to light that he wasn’t, she decides that to alleviate her guilt she must find him a suitable wife. After all, matchmaking is her business.

Still in love with Francesca after all these years, Sinclair agrees to allow Francesca to find him a wife. His devious plot is to let her match him up with other women while he attempts to woo her without her even knowing it.

This book was a lot of fun to read. The characters are fresh and funny. I love the character of Francesca because she’s left in a really bad situation and must make the best of it. The problem is that she’s in historical England, where her options are really limited since she’s both a woman and a widow. I love how inventive she is! I also love the character of Perks, Francesca’s ex-husband’s friend. He’s a slimy, lowdown, no good, nasty man that you love to hate! He made the book so much fun because I found myself mentally booing every time he showed up.

This book is great for any Candace Camp fan or anyone that enjoys historical romance. Being a Candace Camp fan, I have to say that this book rates right up there with all of her other books. It’s an enjoyable page-turner that will bring a smile to your face.
