Emma has accepted the fact that her luck with men is horrible. She doesn’t hop from bed to bed, but she has made a few mistakes. Her depression at what she has done with her life weighs on her, and every single day she is reminded that love is fleeting and never true. Visiting the animal shelter where she is able to forget her worries, Emma’s eyes meet those of a handsome man looking with his nephew for a dog. In an instant, Emma feels the connection to this man, and it scares her. But her fear isn’t enough to keep from agreeing to accompany Jack and his nephew to a pet superstore. Once there, she realizes her mistake and takes off running. She does not realize the depth of the attraction Jack feels for her. But she will.
Jack is bored. He is bored of the same old people talking the same old smack and having not a compassionate or individual thought in their entire brains. When he runs into Emma at the animal shelter, he sees beyond her looks and realizes that he has to have her in his life. His life is so different from Emma’s but he knows they can make a relationship work. All they have to do is trust in each other, and the rest will take care of itself. Or so he hopes. His family, her family, and one very big secret complicate matters until Jack has only one decision to make. Does he want Emma in his life?
I found THE DAY THEY MET to be eerily realistic. So realistic in fact that Emma and Jack could have been anyone I know walking on the street. Their feelings and emotions and problems were things that any married couple have to face in their day to day lives. Add in a few secrets and THE DAY THEY MET becomes a highly complicated and scorching hot love story.
Samantha Lucas has the uncanny ability to draw me into her stories until I can think of nothing else. THE DAY THEY MET is such a novel. Realistic problems combine with compassionate and passionate love scenes to make a truly wonderful novel.
