Joan Horton is a widowed piano professor from New York on sabbatical and has come to Washington to spend time with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchild. While in Van Dalen, she teaches piano lessons to keep busy. While Mallory struggles with her lessons, Gerrit seems like a natural. As they begin spending more time together, Joan soon realizes she has feelings for Gerrit. Will Joan act on her feelings, or will she return to New York alone and lonely once again?
I truly enjoyed reading THE DUET because not only does it speak of second chances at love, it involved an "older" couple instead of the usual alpha male and the beautiful female. This book took me through a whole range of emotions, one minute making me laugh, the next making me cry. Robert Elmer has made a name for himself in the children's market, and now he is an up-and-coming name in the romance genre too. His first offering for adults has definitely been sweet music to my ears. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy sweet romances with a Christian touch.
