Fire Captain Harry Brody’s ex-wife, Rebecca, left him three years ago. With the exception of two of the firemen at his station, all of the firemen there are bachelors. Many believe this is due to a curse. Known for his control and calmness under pressure, he doesn’t usually let anything get under his skin, but at the bachelor auction, which he monitored from the back of the room, a girl had managed to do just that…a girl who had bolted right after an older woman had won heartbreaker Ryan for a record 3K. Later, he is conned into taking Ryan’s place on the date. But when the elderly woman is unable to go, she sends her granddaughter, Melissa, in her place. After he and Melissa share a heated kiss, he finds it hard to get her off of his mind.
Unbeknownst to Melissa, her grandmother only has a matter of months to live, but she wants her granddaughter settled with the man she loves before that happens. Seeing them together, Nelly can see that they are meant for each other, if they don’t mess it up. Anyone could tell that they have trouble keeping their eyes, and hands, off of each other. But can she get Melissa committed to the relationship in the little bit of time she has left, especially since there are others interfering in the relationship?
A smoking hot, fun read, THE FIREMAN WHO LOVED ME, the first book in talented debut author Jennifer Bernard’s BACHELOR FIREMEN OF SAN GABRIEL series, is a steamy, witty contemporary romance about a fire station, which consists of gorgeous, mostly single firemen. Although the station has two captains, Brody is the one who has really gained the men’s respect. In fact, he has practically become a legend with his heroic actions in putting out fires and saving lives. Although Melissa has trouble asserting herself as the producer of the news program, she has no trouble speaking her mind with Brody. He makes her feel things that no other man ever has. Unfortunately, he is not her type. As for Brody, he is still recovering from his divorce and not ready to get involved again. But the chemistry between them is combustible and instantaneous. He was not the fireman that Nelly had chosen for Melissa, but seeing them together, she sees that her plans could possibly come to fruition before it is too late. If only she can keep certain other people from ruining things. Flowing with sexual tension, humor, engaging characters, clever dialogue, a curse, a scheming newscaster, hunky bachelor firemen, life threatening situations, romance and a one-of-a-kind love, this story will leave readers longing for a fireman of their own. Now I am eagerly awaiting Ms. Bernard’s next addition to her BACHELOR FIREMEN OF SAN GABRIEL series, HOT FOR FIREMAN, Ryan’s story, which is due out at the end of May. In the meantime, do not miss THE FIREMAN WHO LOVED ME.
