In this small town, gossip reigns supreme and now there are bets being placed on who will get married next. But Cathy, whose biological clock is ticking, doesn't believe she will find that happiness anytime soon. Just when Cathy believes she may have found the man for her, everything goes haywire and she discovers that things are not as they appear to be. However, even mild, easygoing Cathy has her limits and just maybe it will take setting the town on its ear to win what she desires.
WHAT HAPPENS IN TEXAS is a fun, sexy contemporary tale that is a must read for fans of women's fiction and small town stories. This book, penned by bestselling author Carolyn Brown, was originally published as THE BLUE RIBBON JALAPENO SOCIETY JUBILEE, the first book in her CADILLAC series. I enjoyed watching the twins as they work out their problems and attempt to find what they want most, with a lot of interference, as well as help, by the locals. The secondary characters add a great deal of humor and appeal to the story, especially the twins' Great Aunt Agnes, whose antics are hilarious.
Loveable, true-to-life characters, vivid descriptions, friendships, hilarity, drama, angst, small town politics and romance bring this story to life. Known for her heartwarming, down home stories that leave you laughing out loud, Ms. Brown has become a particular favorite of mine. Having read most of her books, I have yet to find one that I didn't like. In fact, to me, just seeing her name on a book is a guarantee of an entertaining read.
