Winslow MacInness is loyal to a fault. Loving the wife of his friend and overlord from afar, he feels there is no way he will ever love another as much as he loves the unattainable Jillian. And so he distances himself from those he loves to keep his sanity.   Encountering a young woman in danger, Winslow doesn’t hesitate to rescue her even though it means he will be injured as well. Finding his way back to Merewood Keep with his precious bundle, Winslow has no idea how much the bedraggled waif will come to mean to him.

Widow Genvieve de Chauret is attacked while traveling to her cousin’s keep. Fighting her attackers, she is hit in the throat and battered. Rescue comes in the form of a Scottish warrior unlike any Genvieve has ever seen. The man makes merry work of getting rid of her assailants and seeing a hurt Genvieve, he gently and meticulously carries her to safety. Waking in a castle surrounded by strangers, Genvieve is at once scared and then utterly petrified; it seems that while she is on the mend from her noticeable injuries, she is unable to talk. Communication with the people helping her is nonexistent until the magnificent warrior who saved her walks into her room and unknowingly becomes her entire world.

Winslow and Genvieve are strongly attracted to each other although both are scared of loving again. When the new lord of Merewood Keep tells Genvieve she and Winslow are to marry on orders from the king, she is silently apprehensive and secretly yearning for Winslow’s affection to develop into love. Winslow is just as unsure as his bride-to-be, especially since someone is still trying to harm her.   Having no clear cut choice but to follow orders, Winslow marries Genvieve never realizing that he had never truly known love before falling deeply for his wife.

Talk about a strong finish to an equally strong series! Having read the first two novels in Ms. Admirand’s Medieval Trilogy, I was dying for Winslow’s story. I knew he was honorable. I knew he was loyal. I had no idea, however, how incredibly sexy and completely bewitching he would be. His feelings for Genvieve shine through on every page.   Genvieve’s character is just as enchanting as Winslow. A widow, she is scared of loving again because of tragedies that happened to her during her first marriage. Unafraid on intimacy, however, she and Winslow are excitingly compatible in that one area. To be honest, their passion is hot enough to scorch even the coldest of fingers.

A SCOT’S HONOR is truly a wonderful tale of love, loyalty, and second beginnings. I found myself almost sad once I finished reading this story because I adored it so very much. C. H. Admirand is one of my favorite authors for a reason, and when she releases books like A SCOT’S HONOR, she just whets my appetite for more!
