Brianna MacLeod, the new MacLeod Laird, is alone. Her husband and her father lie in the Kirkyard. She needs an heir to keep her place in the clan. Someone else has plans for Brianna now that she’s truly alone.

Ten years earlier fourteen-year old Brianna MacLeod met twelve-year old Ewan Fraser at the Martinmas Fair. Brianna bragged about being the next MacLeod Laird and Ewan teased her that it would not happen. No girl could be a Laird. After much discussion, Brianna and Ewan swore an oath in blood that in seven years to the day, he would come to claim her as his bride.

Unfortunately, things don’t always happen the way a young boy and girl plan. Brianna married Donald as her father wished. Now he and her father lie in the Kirkyard. She must find a man and conceive an heir to keep her place in the clan.

Ewan Fraser is captured by Brianna’s men and charged with the murder of Donald. The proof is a piece of the Fraser plaid found near Donald’s body.

Brianna now has a person on whom she plans to get that heir she so needs – whether he’s willing or not.

The more time they spend together, the more tolerant they become of one another and actually fall in love. Brianna begins to suspect that there’s more than she’s been told about Donald’s murder. She no longer suspects Ewan. If not Ewan, then who?

Their plans do not suit those of the conspirators who plan to bring the MacLeod Laird under their thumbs. Those forces will not stop at eliminating not only Ewan Fraser but they’ll also rid themselves of the new Laird and place the blame on Ewan’s family.

Harlequin’s Blaze® line has a new category – Historical. Hope Tarr has written a deliciously sexy tale of a young fifteenth century Scottish woman who ascends to the rank of Laird. BOUND TO PLEASE is a delightful and emotionally charged read. My emotions ran the gamut from laughter to tears as I read the story of Ewan and Brianna. Ms. Tarr has an amazing way with words that puts the reader in the midst of whatever is happening in the story.

Brianna’s metamorphosis into a beautiful young woman who has wants and needs that can now be fulfilled. Ewan is a man torn between his current fate and the young woman he promised to marry so long ago. Will they be able to finally be able to fulfill their promises to one another or will the unknown forces have their way?

I’ve been a fan of the Blaze® books since the first one was released. Now I have a whole new genre to read. Be sure you pick up a copy of this book and read it. Hope Tarr is a must read in any genre, but this one is definitely a must read and it deserves a place on the reader’s keeper shelf.
