In THE CAPTAIN’S COURTESAN by Melissa MacNeal we meet Captain Damon Delacroix, a privateer who is hired to escort a couple of young women to America to meet their grooms.  Damon is quite startled to find the beautiful and outrageous Sophia Martine stowed away in his cabin.  Of course, finding her naked in his bed is not really a bad thing.  Sophia is a young and spontaneous maid, and she has no want to spend her time watching over her childish and seasick charges.  Knowing that Damon is the man for her, Sophia is determined to make the handsome Captain realize that he wants to keep her forever.

Ms. MacNeal has penned a delightful romp of hedonistic pleasures.  Sophia is a saucy heroine and makes no apologies for enjoying the pleasures of the flesh.  She meets her match in the handsome yet gentle Captain Delacroix.  Damon enjoys the outrageous behavior of the lovely stowaway – and he enjoys her rather bawdy demands.  These two find love, passion - and danger! - on the high seas.

Donna Grant’s TIES THAT BIND is an enchanting tale!  Queen Jarina of Hesione wants no part of marriage.  She has other more important thoughts on her mind – one being the war between Hesione and the neighboring kingdom of Pereth.  King Kyros sits on Pereth’s throne and Jarina is weary of war.  Before she can address a way to end the conflict, Jarina is kidnapped and sold as a sex slave.  Her new master?  None other than King Kyros himself.

Oh my, grab the ice bucket!  You will surely need it as you watch the sparks fly between these two proud members of Royalty.  Kyros is mouthwateringly virile and strong – and completely unaware that his lovely new slave is the Queen of Hesione.  His determination to possess the proud beauty is written with an enthralling intensity.  Jarina, “relieved” of her duties at least for a short while, is eager to experience pleasure with a man for the first time.  She takes an uninhibited enjoyment in Kyros’s bed.  Watching these two characters fall in love is just the icing on an already delicious cake.

Annalise Russell brings powerful emotions to the fore as IN HIS BED unfolds.  Sent into slavery at the young age of ten, Chessa is now free.  In the Viking lands she now lives, she has no choice but to seek the protection of another.  She offers her body to the Viking Bodin in exchange for passage home to her family.  Bodin, having lusted after the young maiden for a long while, accepts her offer.  He soon finds that protecting the young Chessa from other men is easy when compared to finding the strength to let her go.

Bodin is the type of hero that makes my heart flutter.  He is a strong alpha character who can protect and provide for his lover.  He is sometimes sweet and sometimes tough, but no matter his mood, he holds Chessa’s fascination – and to be quite honest, I was infatuated, too.  Chessa, still a maiden, is not prepared for the intense feelings that Bodin brings forth.  I understood her determination to go home, yet also knew that her feelings for Bodin would hinder that.  I’m happy to say that the ending is wonderful, and I was thrilled these two found a way to be together.

THE PLEASURE OF HIS BED is the perfect book for a lazy Saturday afternoon.  I enjoyed all three delightful, yet completely unique, tales of erotic romance.  I had heard that some books in the Aphrodisia line don’t necessarily have a happily-ever-after.  Since I demand that HEA in the romances I love, I was tickled to find that all three of these stories delivered.  All three are sinfully erotic, so prepare to blush while you devour each one.  I feel I must warn you that Ms. Grant’s book has a significant scene of female/female sex, but the scene is written with real warmth.

Put up your feet, pour the iced-tea, and laze away the early fall afternoon with THE PLEASURE OF HIS BED.  This book is not to be missed!
