Favorites and Fun Questions

If you weren't writing, is there another creative pursuit that strikes your fancy?

I paint sometimes, but I'm not very good at it.

Interview

Hi Rose Marie and welcome. I am so glad you could join us here at RomanceJunkies. To start, will you please tell us a little bit about your current projects?

Thanks! I'm so excited to be doing this.

To start off, I am primarily a supernatural/paranormal author, so all of my books so far involve something of that nature. Currently out from Samhain Publishing are the first two books of my werewolf series THE MOON SERIES. SWEET MOON DREAMS and BLOOD MOON are about a group of werewolves who are on the run from hunters who wish to do them some serious harm. Right now, I am working on a novel that is a sort of spin-off from the book, involving a character introduced in BLOOD MOON, who wasn't always a werewolf. I'm hoping to have it done and sent to my editor very soon.

What is your favorite time of day to write?  Do you have music playing in the background?  A favorite snack or beverage by your side?

I usually like to write at night, but I will do it anytime I can. Sometimes I like music playing, but not always. I find, that while it can set the mood at times, it can be a bit distracting. And food and beverages: Keep 'em coming! I like to snack on Sweettarts and drink Gatorade during times when I need a little sugar rush, but most of the time it's tea, or something healthy-ish.

Do you plot and plan the story before ever writing the first word, or do you just jump in and start creating?

When I first wrote SWEEET MOON DREAMS, I wrote without direction. I didn't know much about where the story was going; I was just writing it. Once I got the idea down and knew what was going to happen, from then on I started planning. Every book since then has been plotted out. I have extensive notes filled up in notebooks and numerous Word files. I do chapter outlines, character descriptions and all that.

What does your writing space look like?  Is there any one thing you would change?

Yeah, I need a bigger desk. My writing area can only be described as chaotic. Though I spend a lot of time writing on my laptop, the family PC is the one that gets the most use and boy, is it disorganized.

If you could switch one thing about the way you write, what would it be?

I wouldn't change anything. My style is my own and if I were to change anything…well, it really wouldn't be my style would it? Did that make sense?

Assuming you have some, what do you like to do in your spare time? Do you have any special hobbies or collections?

Oh, I love to read. Reading is my life. I also enjoy movies and spending time with my mate and his family. I love nature and animals too. I'm always playing with my pets or enjoying the sunset.

Lucky day!  Lucky day!  You are being transported to the new car dealer of your choice.  What are you picking out to drive home?  Aw gee…the dream is over…what is in your driveway now?

A silver Mustang GT, just like the one my character, Rose, drives in SWEET MOON DREAMS, but sadly, I have a white Ford Escort and an ancient, blue Ford F150 that barely runs. I used to own a black Camaro, like what Jason drives in BLOOD MOON, but sadly we had to get rid of it. ~sigh~

Describe the "perfect" hero?  What about the "perfect" hero for you?

Perfect hero? Hmm. I guess the perfect hero is the man or woman who works a twelve-hour shift, six days a week to support his or her family. They deserve a little recognition.

But I don't think that's what the question was really asking. Um, my perfect hero is tall, mysterious and handsome, of course and may walk dangerously close to the dark side.

What is this romance writer's idea of the "perfect romantic evening"?

My perfect romantic evening is laying out in the grass on a warm summer night with someone I love and looking up at the stars and the moon. There may be some cuddling, but there doesn't have to be.

How do you describe Rose Marie Wolf?  How do Rose Marie Wolf's family and friends describe her?

Interesting. That's the only word that comes to mind the describe me. It's pretty all encompassing. Interesting can meant a lot of things, but I like to think it means I'm fun, friendly and pretty darn cool at times. My fiancé describes me as the love of his life. I guess that pretty much says it all.

MORE FUN…

Ahhh… those lazy days of summer are in full swing!  What is your "trademark secret" for beating the heat… or at least cooling off a bit?

Stay out of the sun and pray for winter. AC is the best invention ever made but some people aren't fortunate enough to have it, like myself currently. I go to places that do have AC, like the library, and hang out as long as possible.

What is the one food you despised as a child that you now love?

Broccoli. Couldn't stand it as a kid, but I love it now, especially with ranch dip. MMM…

Name the one bug that will have run screaming from the room?

I actually don't think there is one. I'm not really the type for running and screaming at the sight of an insect. Now, if it were a lot of them, like something from Arachnophobia, then yeah…I'm running.

Which is your favorite musical instrument?  Do you know how to play it?

I like the guitar and no, I can't play it. I tried, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. Looks fun though.

And lastly, no interview of a writer would be complete without this question:  what is your favorite comfort food?

Chocolate. Anything chocolate. It keeps me from hurting people when I'm having a very bad day…

LOL!!!   I know that feeling!!   Thank you, Rose Marie, for spending time with us—it’s been a lot of fun!   Continued success with your writing.
