Aidan, the Wolf of Awe, used to be a Master of Time, a part of the Brotherhood sworn to protect and defend the innocent through the ages.  Yet he abandoned his calling after his son, Ian, was killed by his grandfather and Aidan’s father, the evil Moray, and hasn’t saved anyone in over sixty years.  All that changes when he leaps through time to save Brie, much to his chagrin.  Rather than leave her in the present, he decides to take her back to the 1400’s where Brie discovers that the Aidan she has had a secret crush on is walking a fine line between good and evil.

DARK EMBRACE is the latest installment in The Master of Time series.  Aidan is filled with bitterness and revenge that borders on hatred.  He cannot reconcile the loss of his son and all he can think of is killing his father.  He has stopped living.  In a strange way, Brie is very similar to Aidan.  She hides behind her glasses, baggy clothes and her work at the Center for Demonic Activity rather than enjoy life.  However, as these two spend times together, I could see Brie change.  She learns to fight for and defend Aidan.  She knows that he is the one for her even though her friends and family think otherwise.  Although Aidan is dark, he begins to thaw and see that Brie is the key to his salvation.  I think he is humbled by her faith and her love for him.  The interesting thing about this series is that the secondary characters and their relationship with Aidan and Brie.  They are a mixture of previous heroes and heroines as well as those whose stories haven’t been told yet.  There are two potential couples that either have their happy ending or still needs to be told.  I can’t help but wonder who will be the next couple to find love in The Master of Time series.
