Alex Caruthers has a reputation as being a party girl.  She is a successful business woman and a Guardian like her sisters.  She was blessed with the duty of keeping the dragons confined within their own world.  At this moment, she really despises the dragons and the new leader who wants her to become his wife.  So Alex asks her friend, Jake, to become her pretend boyfriend.  Only Alex was not prepared for her true feelings to come to the surface every time she is near him.  When it becomes clear that someone is using the dragons to start a war on earth, Alex is determined to not let that happen.  Will Alex take a chance on love with a man who has captured her heart?  Or will she do whatever it takes to protect the world from the infestation of evil dragons? 

Jake is a widower and the head of security for the Caruthers Headquarters.  His main job is to make sure that he has a secure line on where the Guardians are at all times.  When Alex goes off line and he can not track her, he realizes his true feelings for her when she is found almost dead.  Jake has vowed that he will not love another woman, especially one that is in a dangerous occupation as Alex is.  However, Jake can not stop the sizzling electricity that erupts around him whenever he is near Alex.  Will Jake walk away from love because he can not watch another woman he loves die?  Or will he take a leap of faith and enjoy the rare love he can experience with Alex?

DRAGONS PREFER BLONDES is an awesome addition to this ongoing series.  Candace Havens pens another sassy novel with a kick-butt heroine that discovers love in the most unlikely male.  This mystifying tale is laced with intrigue, enigmatic characters and a beautiful romance wrapped into one charming package.  I laughed at the witty antics, got tense when things heated up and cheered when two hearts came together.  The secondary characters are just as charming and added a lot of spice to the storyline.

Alex is a feisty woman with a quick sense of humor and the strength of mind to save the world from dragons.  She is strong-minded and does not believe that anyone can love her because of her ability to react before thinking.  She thinks Jake is stubborn and also the sexiest man she has ever laid eyes on.

Jake is a charming character whose heart was broken when he lost his wife.  He fears he will never love again.  But when he realizes his true feelings for Alex, he walks away because he can not put himself into that situation again.  Although he loves Alex, he has trouble with the fact that she is always in dangerous situations.

I absolutely adored DRAGONS PREFER BLONDES and highly recommend it to everyone who likes to laugh and enjoys a sizzling romance.  I am anxiously awaiting Ms. Haven’s next charming tale.
