Rio Rafael did not realize how deep his feelings for Cyn were until he helped his friend and fellow agent in the Black Ops, Dillon, save his love Jordan from almost certain death.  Realizing it could have been him and Cyn made him decide to make some changes in his life.  He had always loved the adrenaline-stirring job that was Black Ops and had figured he would never leave it; but then he had never figured feeling for someone the way he does for her.  Up until now, their relationship had been based on fun and games, but suddenly fun and games was no longer enough.  Often Rio would doodle and frequently his doodles were of Cyn.

Detective Sergeant Cynarra ‘Cyn’ Malva grew up in a family of police, who were also mages.  The only girl in the family, she was used to roughhousing with her five brothers.  It took a serious accident that almost cost Cyn her life for those in her family to try to change her into a young lady; especially her mother, who had taken to bribing her with exotic dolls.  The dolls were the only things that stuck with her.  She still collects them though no one knows except Cyn and Rio, who also delights in finding dolls for her that she does not already have.  The accident left her with a white strip of hair mixed in with her black hair.  Until Rio, her social life had not been the greatest; her dates ran off when they found out she was a police officer.  She is a sergeant in homicide, but on her tactical team, she is just a member like the rest of them and a part-timer, at that.  Recently, a new gang has hit town and no matter what the tactical team does, the gang is gone before the team arrives at the site. 

Rio finally took the final step…a step he never thought he would take; he left the Black Ops after having finished his final mission.  His fellow agent Dillon left Black Ops also and the two of them were joining Lantis, a former member of Black Ops who had formed Depth Security in Aurora, the city where Cyn lives.  Since up until now, his relationship with Cyn has been fun and games, Rio is worried about how she will accept the change in the relationship when he gets more serious and tries to get her to settle down with him.  With Rio in town so much, he is suddenly coming to the attention of her family, who are upset that he is not a mage or even a police officer, but then they do not know about his background in Black Ops.  Her family may be in for a surprise or two and Rio’s experience may be needed, as it seems that someone is out to kill her.

ENDANGERED is a blazing hot, contemporary erotic romance that will have you turning the air conditioner to cold...colder…coldest.  Rio and Cyn are used to seeing each other in between Rio’s missions.  The last mission when Dillion’s girlfriend came close to death hit too close to home for Rio’s comfort.  Quitting Black Ops, he only hopes that Cyn will give their relationship a serious chance for the future.  However, breaking the news to her is not something to which he is looking forward.  Brimming with humor, combat, plenty of extremely sensual love scenes, snappy repartee and an excellent plot, this is an unforgettable story.  Though it is the first story I have read by author Kathleen Dante, I look forward to reading more of her works.  I highly recommend ENDANGERED to anyone looking for a great story with plenty of heat.
