California native Katherine Lawson is in London finishing up her masters degree. There for only six weeks on a fashion design internship, she had planned on wrapping things up and getting back to the states to resume her relationship with fiancé Damien. Then one day, while taking the public transport system, an innocent conversation with the charming man setting next to her changes everything.

London psychiatrist Wesley Atherton has always been the sensible type. His job demands he go by the facts and losing his heart at first glance is just not something he believes in. Yet Wes finds himself captivated by the radiant young woman he meets on the Tube. After several coincidental meetings later and a phone conversation lasting late into the night, Wes convinces Katherine to go out for a date.

From the moment their lips made contact after the spectacular evening they’d shared, Wes knew Katherine belonged with him. On the way back to his place, a train derailment alters it all. Wes escapes with only a dislocated shoulder, and Katherine, though obtaining more substantial injuries, pulls through. Soon, unexplained occurrences, some deadly, start taking place. A physic, posing as his patient, then claims she is there to warn him that the Reaper is coming to seek his revenge. Apparently, Wes cheated death the night of the crash. If he and Katherine are to be together, he must learn to accept a reality beyond visible facts in order to fight against the demon that’s coming.

FORBIDDEN: THE SACRIFICE plunges right into the story from the beginning. The compelling dialogue and events that occur from the first drew me in, anticipating what was to come. The flashbacks that are integrated into the story provide insight into the characters backgrounds and help to solidify there strong instant connection. Samantha Sommersby offers an interesting take on the face of death with her version of the Reaper. I think many paranormal fans will enjoy this and find themselves sighing over the compassionate hero as I did.
