Livia has grown up on the island of Piratira, raised as an obedient servant by her master and his family. She does not know of her own origins and longs to find a place where she is free and accepted. When Livia’s life is demanded by the Piratirans as a sacrifice to a water god, she is rescued by a handsome man and taken to another island, just before she dies.

Achates is the king of the Orinjals, people who are the descendants of Poseidon. As the leader, he is expected to marry and have children to carry on his family line. Achates can only marry the woman he was betrothed to; however, she was stolen from her family shortly after her birth. He’s spent years searching for her without success until one day he is on the edge of Piratira, only to see her about to meet a watery death.  The moment he sees her, he knows she the one and races to save her.

Achates explains Livia’s heritage to her, telling her of their people and her family. He also informs her that they were betrothed to each other at birth and will be expected to marry soon. Livia automatically feels a connection to the land of Orinjal and Achates, but dares not believe she has found her place, in fear of having it taken away. As time passes, Livia starts to become accustomed to the ways of her people and overcomes her anxiety to be with Achates. Only one thing stands in their way; the two must find a way to prevent the island’s babies from being stolen to insure their future happiness and the future of their people.

MESMERIZED is a delightful tale that brings the descendants of Poseidon to life and expands on a mythical land that will immerse you in the beauty of a tropical paradise. As always, Donna Grants wows with her spectacular world building and her unique take on fantasy. Her mesmerizing plot and enchanting characters make this a fabulous read. The situations the characters are faced with bring in a dose of reality, while the sensual encounters of the hero and heroine bring a nice erotic flare. Ms. Grant is an author I always enjoy and recommend.
