Damon Thorne, world-famous for his paintings of psychic visions, is staying at a private retreat in Maine. He already knows that Elaine is meant to be a huge part of his life even before she arrives at his door - he's painted a portrait of her.
The arrival of a storm and blocked road force Elaine to seek shelter at a nearby house with the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen. She thinks she’s arrived at the bed-and-breakfast she’d been seeking and Damon doesn’t tell her any differently. Almost immediately Elaine is overcome with a sexual need for Damon that she can’t control. She thinks that maybe satisfying the sexual craving will keep the rest of her emotions and memories at bay but she quickly learns that it only makes them more vivid. Damon understands more about Elaine then she realizes. His abilities allow him to see how special she truly is and he may even be able to help her accept her own unique abilities. Will Elaine trust Damon enough to share her past and open herself up to the possibility of love again? What will happen when her vacation time is over?
Charlene Teglia is such a fun author, I’ve just loved each of her stories that I’ve had the pleasure of reading. ONLY HUMAN allows readers to imagine that their ‘special someone’ is out there just waiting for their paths to cross. Elaine is a character that many women will be able to relate to - it’s so much easier to bury yourself in work or some other vice to avoid dealing with painful issues. Damon is the perfect alpha male. There’s no doubt that he is dominate and is more than willing to provide everything Elaine needs, but he isn’t overwhelming and doesn’t try to control her.
