Isabella Girardi is the top weather forecaster in New York State in her job as Head Meteorologist for KDWI television.  She is interested in classical music and mythology, even though she believes the Nordic Gods are a myth.  Her brother is a gay cross dresser who works for the mafia, a situation their mother is having trouble accepting.  All their mother wants is for her children to marry and give her grandchildren.  To that effect, she is constantly trying to fix them up with someone.

 

After a night of drinking, Isabella and three of her friends try to conjure up an immortal unsuccessfully.  Isabella makes the comment that she is more likely to be struck by lightning than to make an immortal appear.  An instant later, a bolt of lightning almost strikes her.  Unbeknownst to her, Thor threw the lightning.  He, with his wife Sif and his son Galvin were observing Isabella and her friends.

Isabella, in particular, interests Galvin.  So he comes to earth as the newest member on Isabella’s weather team.  Suddenly the weather is erratic and the forecasts are off. 

Thor is not happy that his son is interested in a mortal.  Although Galvin asks his mother to intervene, this just makes Thor believe his son is a mama’s boy.  So Thor sets out to test him.  As Galvin and Isabella work together and travel together on storm chases, their attraction to one another draws them even closer.  But how will she take the news that Galvin is an immortal or that she will age while he will not?  If Thor continues to throw off her forecasts, could it cost Isabella her job?  How much damage will he do, and who will get hurt before Thor decides he has proven his point?

 

Hilarious and hot!!  STRUCK BY LIGHTNING brings the mythological gods to life!  Brimming with sizzling love scenes, an interesting plot, romance, suspense and charismatic characters, this is a hard book to put down until you have finished the last page.  This is the first story I have read by Lizzie T. Leaf, but I found it to be enjoyable and look forward to reading more of her works.  I have put STRUCK BY LIGHTNING on my ‘recommended read’ list.
