UNBREAKABLE is a phenomenal beginning to a demon series that manages to stand out in an industry that has begun to release many similarly themed titles. Ms. Somers puts her personal spin on this theme and she does so with uniqueness and a strong voice that can't be denied. I admit that I picked this novel up solely on Ms. Somers' strength as a writer and based on the fact that I have enjoyed her books in the past.
UNBREAKABLE does not disappoint, from its strong female lead, to its Alpha hero, followed closely by a powerful story line and a cast of secondary characters that absolutely need their stories told; there is nothing about UNBREAKABLE I did not like. Jordan is kick ass and never wavers, she is that heroine that starts out tough and stays tough and trust me, with all she has faced, she deserved to crumble some. Independent, edgy and downright likable Jordan embodies the strong female lead from head to toe.
Gabe is overprotective of Jordan and at times it's frustrating since we know Jordan can hold her own, yet he still manages to be an extremely lovable character. He holds his own and by his own admission knows he's made some mistakes. The attraction and tension is so thick between these two at times you could cut it with a knife, and while they do indulge in their shared passion they still both realize they have a lot to work out.
Their love story pared with fast paced action, creepy demons and a subplot that is shocking as it unravels, managed to make UNBREAKABLE in my opinion one of the very best novels to come from Sydney Somers. It’s a fabulous start and where ever this series goes I intend to follow. UNBREAKABLE is a recommended read and is welcome addition to a genre full of promise.
