Marquez is older than Jared and he knows what it is like to become an adult on the ship. He tries to comfort Jared, but soon their time together turns to passion. It is only this that keeps them sane in the face of the women's cruelty. It is not long before they are discovered and punished. Marquez escapes, taking a sickly Jared with him. They crash on a planet and are rescued by a lizard-man, Gharial, who takes them to his village.

Marquez must work through his feelings for Jared and for Gharial and come to an understanding about what he wants.

Stirring strong and sometimes difficult emotions, it tells of how Marquez must come to accept the way his life was and decide how he wants it to be in the future.

 

The way the men are treated in this story is frightening. The cruelty by women had me sad and angry. I connected on a deep level with Marquez and I wanted him to escape and find happiness. The few moments of passion that Marquez and Jared find are few and far between, and do not make up for their pain. The abuse experienced by these characters strongly affects how they are able to function. It is no wonder that Marquez has difficulty later understanding the meaning of love. There comes a time though, that Marquez must learn to accept his past for what it was and move past it. Only then can he have any chance at happiness in the future.

 

I have to admit that I had a little problem accepting the character of Gharial as a possible mate for Marquez. He seems too much like a big lizard. It is only by his actions and his compassion that I began to see past his appearance. The attraction and passion Marquez and Gharial share bring them happiness. The two enjoy discovering the differences between them and what brings them each pleasure. I thought these scenes were fun to read and in a way fascinating. These sexy scenes are described in heated and explicit details. After all the pain that Marquez experiences in the beginning it is easier to accept that he should be allowed anything that brings him happiness.

VENOM'S BOND is a fascinating and entertaining story of a man that escapes his tormentors to begin a new life. It is highly erotic and filled with many hot and sexy moments. I found that it is the emotions that are stirred while reading it though, that made it memorable.
