As the deputy director for Homeland Security, Samantha Reid has her hands full with her demanding job which also includes the daunting task of making sure her boss sounds good to the public. And when a natural-gas pipeline explodes in the Midwest, leaving residents without power or heat in freezing temperatures, Samantha’s job becomes even more demanding. 

Samantha has experience in the gas industry, and something about the explosion just doesn’t add up right for her.  She’s convinced that the explosion was not an accident, but sabotage.  No one in her department—or anywhere else in the White House—wants to listen to her theory, until she meets the Vice President of GeoGlobal, the company who owns the exploded gas line.

Tripp Adams is a former military and security specialist, now the Vice President and a favored negotiator for GeoGlobal—as well as Samantha’s former college crush.  Tripp is the only one who takes Samantha’s suspicions seriously, and soon the two are working together to undercover the suspected sabotage, and taking their mutual attraction to the next level. 

When there are more explosions on GeoGlobal’s gas lines, Tripp and Samantha must fight to expose the plot behind the sabotage before the threat spirals and the nation is plunged into an energy crisis.

FINAL FINESSE is author Karna Small Bodman’s third political thriller.  Through Samantha, readers are given a unique glimpse of what it’s like to work in the White House.  There’s plenty of Bodman’s trademark insider trivia and history (she’s a former White House staffer), as well as a keen sense of humor that brings out the lighter side of life in the public eye.  Samantha and Tripp are a Washington power couple, and have the brains, determination, and political savvy necessary to drive the plot home. The story maintains a balance between political thriller and romance, and fans of both genres will enjoy the blend and claim this novel for their own.
