ZERO AT THE BONE by Jane Seville is an intense and absorbing suspense novel. D is quite an intriguing character. At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like him but I found myself admiring his perseverance. He has tried cutting himself off from his emotions but he has not fully succeeded. He gets no pleasure from what he does. As the novel progresses we get to know him slowly, information is revealed in tantalizingly small doses. With each chapter, I couldn’t wait to find out more about him. Jack is also interesting. I especially admired his courage. He is willing to look beneath the surface and see past the careful façade that D presents to the world. I enjoyed the development of their relationship. Jack slowly work past D’s defenses and they began to trust and care for one another. The plot is complex with lots of interesting details. This novel is thrilling from start to finish and I hope there will be a sequel!
